Back in the swing of things

We have survived life getting back to normal! I feel like a frazzled mom a lot of days but I think I am slowly getting the hang of being a wife and mommy, plus working at Dr. Gold's office, plus doing all of the cooking and cleaning. I can also say I am one tired girl by the time I get in bed at night.Caden has his good days and bad. Some days he is the happiest baby and smiles and talks to me all day. Other days he is more fussy and nothing seems to satisfy him. And I never know what kind of day we are going to have until after his morning nap. His shots seemed to really affect him and the poor little guy didn't feel good for days after but we have overcome that and my sweet, happy baby is back today!

We are so very lucky that Matt gets to stay home with him on Monday's and my mom keeps him Tuesday and Thursdays. I think he isn't quite used to the new schedule yet, but I'm sure after a few more weeks he'll get the hang of it. I'm sure he loves his time with his Nana! And I remind her a lot that she can't spoil him TOO much!

I have been attempting to get Caden to do tummy time more and more. No matter how much I try he just does not like it. At all! But we will keep trying! And our little man is growing so much! I look back at his newborn pictures and it doesn't even look like the same baby! He has rolls all over and his legs are chunky little things! And look at that belly!! I just cover it with kisses any chance I get!

2 months

I cannot believe our little guy is 2 months old. It has gone by so fast and I am falling more in love with him everyday. Today was his doctors appointment and shots. Yuck!! There were tears shed but the minute I could hold him he calmed down and it hit me, I am that person for Caden. Just like my mom is that person that can calm me down, even at 28 years of age. The older Caden is getting the more he is becoming a mama's boy and I am loving every minute of it!

My mom went with Caden and I to the doctor and I am so glad. It just helps having her moral support. And Caden didn't seem to mind either! He loves his Nana!

Once we got home I could tell my sweet guy didn't feel very good so I held him and rocked him for awhile. I try not to make a habit of holding him while he sleeps in my arms and on me because I don't want him to get too used to it. I enjoy times when he takes his naps and I can get stuff done. But today was different. I held him and loved on him and cuddled with him for a long time. People keep telling me how "spoiled" Caden is but I realized something while I was rocking him. Some may call him "spoiled" but I call him loved. I love that little guy more then I can express and he will only be this age once. So an occasional day of holding and napping together is going to happen and I hope he knows how much he is loved!

My sweet Caden, at 2 months you are:

  • weighing in at 14lbs (yes you're our little chunk and we love your rolls!!)
  • 23 inches tall
  • Still sleeping in your bouncer in our room at night but naps are in your room
  • In size 1 diapers (started wearing size 1 when you were 6 weeks old)
  • Wearing 0-3 month clothes
  • Love watching the ceiling fan
  • Cooing and babbling throughout the day and I love it!
  • Kick your legs all the time. They are always moving!
  • Go to bed at 9 every night and wake up around 7 am and only wake up once during the night to eat
  • You take 2 three hour naps a day... well most days anyway
  • Normally eat 7-8 times a day
  • Gaining more head control everyday
  • Can take or leave your paci
  • Still on medicine for acid reflux but it seems to be improving and you're finally feeling better!
  • You love to be outside even though it is so hot out there
  • Still so very alert, especially when we go anywhere
  • Completely stolen your Mommy and Daddy's hearts and are one loved little boy
Caden Andrew,
I cannot believe you are 2 months old! As I think back over the past 2 months I realize how much you are growing and changing. I love listening to you coo and squeal when you are happy and it breaks my heart when you cry and are hurting. But we are growing together. We thank God everyday for giving you to us, what a precious, special gift. I love you now and always.
Xoxo, Mommy

What a blur!

I cannot believe I have gotten so bad at updating this but I have been so busy. Matt is finally home! But while he was gone I also started working again and between work, keeping the house clean and doing everything I needed to do around the house and having Caden I did not have much spare time at all! And I am exhausted!

Before I had Caden I said I would NEVER just let my baby hang out without clothes on. He would never just wear a diaper. Like I said, that was BEFORE I had Caden. Recently I have fallen in love with my sweet baby only wearing a diaper. I call him my little naked baby (I know, he isn't naked, but its close enough!) I also quickly figured out that he loves not wearing clothes!

Saturday we took our first trip to Tyler to pick up Matt from the airport! We were both so excited to see him! And I was so proud of Caden. He did remarkably well and we had a lot of fun! He also went on his first trip to Chick-fil-a and I am sure that he loved it! And may have gotten a little taste of Matt's whip cream from his milkshake :) But the poor little guy was exhausted by the time we got home. He normally doesn't sleep very well if he is not swaddled but I was trying to keep him awake in the evening so he would sleep that night but he would not wake up! No matter what we did!

And this week I am working a little more then last and I miss my little man so much. I absolutely cannot wait to get home to him! And I cherish my mornings with him even more! I am so blessed to only work 3 days a week but I definitely cherish my days at home with my guy even more then before!

And finally our little guy is 2 months old today!! But I will update stats and pictures after his 2 month check-up tomorrow. And by the way... this mom is not looking forward to the shots. My heart hurts for him already

So much to do and so little time

I cannot believe it has been so long since I updated this!! Needless to say though we have been really busy, or at least it seems that way. This may be a little wordy but I have over a weeks worth of events to update!

Last Thursday my sweet friend Ashley and her beautiful daughter Lauren came over to meet Caden! We were so excited to see them and I hope they will be good friends as they get older! Lauren is absolutely adorable and such a sweet baby. The poor thing wasn't feeling too well because she had shots the day before but we made sure to get a quick picture before they left!

Over the weekend we were getting Matt ready to go to San Diego for 2 weeks for the Navy. I am so sad to see him go. I love the time we spend together and I hate that he misses seeing Caden change because it seems like he is changing every single day. But Matt's mom came over to keep Caden entertained while Matt packed and got all of the details finalized and I cooked dinner. Sunday I took Matt to the airport while my mom watched Caden. It was the longest I had ever been away from him and we both survived pretty well!

Since Matt has been gone I have been one busy mommy! I don't realize how big of a help Matt is until he isn't here! But we made our first Wal-mart trip with the help of Nana and I was so relieved when we got home. I am not really sure why but I was really nervous about taking him to wal-mart and figuring out the whole car seat and buggy thing! I was also too focused on the task at hand and I completely forgot to take a picture!

I am also starting to get ready to go back to work. I have been very blessed and will only be returning part time, which I am very thankful for. But I also get very sad and teary when I think about having to leave him at all. I know he is in wonderful hands with my mom, I wouldn't want him with anyone else, but I am going to miss him like crazy. Hopefully I'll only call to check on him about 10 times a day. More then that may make me seem a little crazy!

And finally just thought I'd share some of the pictures we had made. My friend Jamie is starting her own photography business so we love giving her some practice!

I may be a little biased but I think he is absolutely the cutest little guy ever!!

So many "firsts"

We had an exciting and eventful weekend! My brothers daughters came to stay with Nana and Pop and Caden got to hang out with them for awhile. They loved holding him and talking to him and they are already making big plans for him when they come for Christmas. You see, he just "doesn't really do too much right now" but they know in their little hearts that will soon be changing. They have also accepted the fact that Caden won't play Barbies with them but they will think of something else they can play! What sweet little girls?!?!

Matt's best friend got married Saturday afternoon so we were busy at the wedding and reception. We decided not to take Caden since he is still so little so Aubrey and Ainslea happily "baby-sat" him, with the help of Nana of course! Once we got home we decided to take the kids swimming and it was Caden's very first time. He seemed to really enjoy the water. We didn't keep him out very long but we may try again pretty soon!

We got up bright and early Sunday morning and went to church for the first time as a family! Matt and I were both so excited to take him and we managed to get there on time! I am loving our days as a family of 3 and trying to savor and enjoy every moment!
